17 December 2011 10:00 - CPR Wolves 4 v Mychett Athletic Eagles 0 |
|
Not a team we have played against in the league but we did meet them earlier in the season and ended up losing 4 – 3 in a tight fought cup game.
Continuing from the last game we started with a strong defence line with Dan Elliot and Oliver W putting in some good defensive work and the team putting in some excellent passing work. At half time we led 1 – 0, a great goal scored by Oliver J.
Ronan, Sam and William played some excellent midfield work and we were rewarded with 2 goals from Liam and a second from Oliver J in the second half.

10 December 2011 11:00 - Camberley Boys Maroons 0 v CPR Wolves 6 |
|
Our home match against Camberley Boys in early October ended in a tight fought one – nil win. We were therefore expecting a tough away game.
With two of the team off to watch Man U at the new Europa league old Trafford venue and Sean fighting illness we were down to 7 fit players.
The game started with some good passing play and we were rewarded with a goal from Sam, his first of the season. Just as Sam’s dad Gary was on the phone to his mum Ellie a second goal was score by Sam, closely followed by a third, our second CPR Wolves hatrick this season but cerainly the quickest in under seven minutes!
The boys continued with some good passing and defensive work with Dan and Elliot at the back forming a solid defence, Oliver J, Sam and Ronan providing good midfield cover and Oliver J causing numerous problems for the Camberley boys team.
Further goals came from Oliver W and Oliver J and our final goal was scored by Oliver J , following a mazy run from defence by Elliot.

12 November 2011 09:30 - CPR Wolves 1 v Crookham Rovers Hawks 2 |
|
This was our first home match at our new ground at Collingwood (where we will be for the rest of this season with the other two U10 sides). Crookham Rovers, although a couple of places lower than us in the table going into the match had played less games, so this was going to be a tough match. There was plenty of home support from parents and the CPR Kestrels team and coaches who were playing after out match.
CPR Wolves started the match brightly making a few good attacks and getting a couple of shots away. The Crookham goalkeeper had a long goal kick that was catching our defence out a couple of times but we were relatively untroubled with Charlie having little to do in goal during the first 15 minutes.
At about this time Crookham had a free kick between the edge of the area and the half way line. The free kick was well taken and goal bound which one of their players appeared to get a touch on to deflect the shot into our goal to put Crookham 1-0 up. This was how the match stood until half time.
The boys looked disappointed to concede just before half time but we were still in the match. When the second half got underway if was initially evenly balanced. About five minutes in a Crookham corner was partly cleared from our goal, however a follow up shot from one of the Crookham players went in and we were 2-0 down.
This seemed to be the catalyst to get the boys playing well with some good attacks on the Crookham goal. The last ten minutes was all CPR Wolves with constant pressure on their goal. We had at least 8 corners during this spell, with Oliver Joint (OJ) scoring from one of them, and several other of our players going close as we pushed for an equaliser. The Crookham goalkeeper was excellent and saved a number of shots as the pressure mounted.
Unfortunately time ran out and a relieved Crookham Hawks held on to win 2-1. The Wolves performance, particularly for most of the second half, was excellent it was just a shame that we couldn't grab a goal or two at the end which I thought we deserved.

05 November 2011 10:30 - Milford Pumas Sporting 0 v CPR Wolves 4 |
|
Following our away defeat last week against the team at the top of the table, the Wolves were hoping to get back to winning ways with our away match at Milford Pumas Sporting.
The Wolves were playing with the down hill slope in the first half and started positively creating a few early oportunities. The game was a little disjointed with the boys tending to bunch together at times instead of letting the ball do the work and finding space. That said the majority of the pressurre was from the Wolves.
With about 10 minutes of the match gone the Wolves made a break through with a lovely through pass from Liam to Oliver Joint (OJ) who ran on to put the ball in the back of the net. This goal was swiftly followed by a goal for Liam to make it 2-0.
With a couple of minutes to go before half time Liam scored and almost straight away from the restart OJ ran through to score another! The boys went into the half time break in bouyant mood with the score at 4-0.
With a healthy lead Mark and I decided to try a few players out in different positions with Dan and Elliot pushing up to midfield. Both continued to work hard running the ball upfield and tackling back when they needed to. Sam, Sean, Ronan and Oliver W also played their part in ensuring most of the pressure was in the Milford's half and making sure Charlie only had to make the odd save.
The Wolves created a few further opportunities with Milfords keeper preventing another two good chances that looked destined to go in. The game finished 4-0 to the Wolves, a great result, securing the three points, improving our goal difference and keeping a clean sheet as well!

29 October 2011 10:30 - Rushmoor Community Trojans 3 v CPR Wolves 1 |
|
Following the half term break this was going to be possibly our toughest game of the season, away to the league leaders Rushmoor Community Trojans. All 10 players were available and Mark and I wanted everyone to play atleast half of the match.
We initially set out to try and ensure that we did not concede an early goal and for the first 10 minutes did just that showing some excellent play and really good defending, guarding our goal and starting to hit Rushmoor on the counter attack. A few good breaks saw us create a couple of goal scoring opportunities as the first half wore on.
With five minutes to go before half time Rushmoor scored but the Wolves stuck to the task and continued to defend well going into the break at half time 1-0 down.
We made a few substitutions at half time to keep the players fresh and give those who had played the first half a breather. We started the second half well continuing to defend as a team and tackling back when needed. Charlie also made a some good saves to keep us in the match. Just when we were starting make some promising breaks half way through the second half we conceeded a couple of goals to go 3-0 down.
With just over five minutes left as the game opened up, we had our best spell with some surging runs from man if the match Dan. One of Dan's cross field passes made it through to Ronan to get on the end of to score and make it 3-1. It was the least we deserved from the match and gave the team renewed confidence in the last few minutes where we created a further couple of opportunities to score.
The referee finally blew the whistle for the end of the match and although we lost it was a great team performance, with some excellent defending, working for each other to protect our goal and play as team.

08 October 2011 11:00 - CPR Wolves 1 v Camberley Boys Maroons 0 |
|
For the first ten minutes of the match we were put under considerable pressure from the Camberley Boys Maroons team. With Ronan covering in goal for Charlie, Daniel and Elliot continued to improve on their defensive partnership and with some good strong tackles kept us in the game. After the initial pressure both teams had some opportunities without any breakthrough and the half time score was 0-0.
The second half started with a good tempo and our attack and in particular Oliver J made some good runs which resulted in a great goal from Oliver J. The Camberley boys goalie remained the busier of the two goalies and pull off some good saves. Opportunities fell to Oliver J, Sam and Sean but the game was to finish one – nil.
A good win after a couple of narrow defeats.

01 October 2011 10:00 - CUP MATCH - CPR Wolves 1 v Mychett Athletic Eagles 2 |
|
On one of the hottest days of the year we had our first cup match of the season against Mychett Athletic Eagles who are also in our division and we will be coming up against twice later in the season.
This was the first match that all 10 boys were fit and able to play. Mark and I devised a plan to try and get everyone playing in the match with the maximum amount of playing time possible.
When the match got underway Mychett had a couple of early attacks. CPR Wolves then started to get some possession and string some good passes together. The match was very evenly balanced going into half time with a few shots on goal by both teams but no one making the breakthrough. The half time score was 0-0.
The second half was equally finely balanced to start with before Mychett scored after about 5 minutes in. CPR Wolves continued to battle back into the match with some good passing moves, One such move saw the ball passed up to Liam who ran with it and then struck a superb shot into the top right hand corner of the Mychett net.
Both teams then pushed for the winning goal but both defences remained strong with the game looking like it was going to extra time. Unfortunatley with only a few minutes to go, a shot from Mychett was saved but we were unable to clear the ball and in a goal mouth scramble the ball was judged by the referee to have crossed the line and Mychett had scored.
The boys continued to battle on to the end in search of an equalizer but time ran out. Mychett had won by a narrow margin. Despite this it was a great performance by the CPR Wolves team with everyone getting involved and working hard.

24 September 2011 10:00 - CPR Wolves 3 v Bourne Blade Badgers 4 |
|
Our second home match of the season was against Bourne Blades Badgers. The boys were keen to keep up our 100% record so far this season. This was also the debut match for our new keeper Charlie Allen.
The Wolves line up at the start was Charlie in goal, Elliot and Dan in defence, Sean, OJ and Ronan in midfield and Liam up front, Sam initially Sub to start with. The match got under way and it was quickly end to end stuff. Bourne Badgers scored first the Wolves being a little unlucky with the ball deflecting off of Dan past Charlie. CPR Wolves then equalised through a fine run and finish by Oliver Joint (OJ) after a good pass from Liam which was swiftly followed by another goal from OJ. Sam replaced Sean for the remainder of the half.
Bourne Badgers then hit back with two goals of their own, one a great shot from a direct freekick. Before the half time whistle blew OJ scored his hat-trick, again a fine touch and pass from Liam that lead to another fine run and shot from OJ. It was a breathless first half (even for the parents and coaches watching on the sidelines!) that ended 3-3.
The second half was still very close with chances at both ends. CPR Wolves went close with a shot from Dan which flew just over the bar and a direct free kick from OJ that was well hit but just missed the target. Great defensive work by Dan and Elliot kept the Bourne Badgers at bay for most of the second half.
With a couple of minutes remaining the match seemed headed for a draw, however Bourne Blades picked up the ball outside of the area and fired a stunning strike which Charlie had no chance with.
It was a shame to loose our first match but the performance was great, end to end stuff and great to watch with everyone playing well and getting stuck in. Congratulations to OJ for his hat-trick, the first of the season!

17 September 2011 10:00 - Milford Pumas Spartaks 0 v CPR Wolves 2 |
|
CPR Wolves first away game of the season was a trip to Witley. Due to injury and player unavailability we only had 7 players available for the match. When we arrived at the Milford Pumas Spartaks ground the heavens opened and it poured with rain. Thankfully the shower was shortlived and as the match started the sun was breaking through the clouds.
The Wolves initially started with Elliot in goal, Sam and Dan in defence, William, Liam and Sean in midfield and Oliver Joint (OJ) up front. The first ten minutes were very tense with the Spartaks making several attempts on our goal but some excellent tacking by Dan and Sam in ensured our goal was not threatened.
There were a few lovely passing moves on the counter attack by the Wolves and it was one of these counter attacks that lead to our first goal with the ball being passed through to Liam who cooly scored for his first goal of the season.
At half time OJ went in goal with Elliot coming out to bolster out defence with Sam moving into midfield. The Wolves played well in the second half with our defence remaining strong and OJ doing a great job commanding the penalty area and making some good clearing kicks.
The Wolves went close twice with Liam's initial shot well saved by the Spartak's kepper and William hitting the post on the follow up. Shortly afterwards another Wolves attack led to one of the Spartaks defenders handling the ball in the area. Liam stepped up to take the penalty and scored with a fine finish into the corner.
Despite having no subs available the team continued to work hard to contain the Spartaks to the end of the match ensuring another win and a clean sheet.
The match finished 2-0 to the Wolves continuing our good start to the season. The boys gave man of the match Liam the "bumps" at the end of the match to celebrate his 10th birthday! A special mention to Oliver Joint for reluctantly going in goal for the second half and doing a great job in ensuring another clean sheet.

10 September 2011 11:00 - CPR Wolves 3 v Fleet Titan Spurs 0 |
|
CPR Wolves first game of the season was at home at our Kings International pitch. The boys seemed eager to start the season and all looked great in the new kit.
As Fleet Titan Spurs initally had only 6 players, tactically we decided to start with Ronan in goal, Dan and Elliot in defence, Sean and Oliver Joint (OJ) in midfield with Liam making his debut up front with Sam and William initially as sub.
The first five minutes were quite evenly matched with few chances at either end. Fleet's seventh man then turned up which allowed us to introduce Sam and William to the pitch with Sean taking a break until half time. The match livened up with OJ scoring our first goal of the season shortly followed by another from super sub William. The Wolves held their 2-0 advantage until half time.
In the second half Ronan came outfield and Dan went in goal with Eliott coming off to be replaced by Sean. CPR Wolves had the majority of the possession and managed to score a third, Wiliam again getting on the score sheet. Some good passages of play then followed with little threat on our goal. OJ nearly grabbed a fourth from a one on one with their keeper, skillfully rounding him only to send his shot slightly wide of the far post.
The match finished 3-0 to the Wolves which was a great start to the season. It was a good match with all our new players Sam, Liam and William having excellent debuts.
