06 March 2010 10:00 - League - Manor Colts Black 3 v CPR Aztecs 2 |
| A game of 2 halves to use a football cliche, the 1st half the Aztecs were still fast asleep from the night before and were 2nd in every challenge. Before long they found themselves 2-0 in 20mins. In defence Archie White and Sean Frost were having a tough time but were playing exceptionally well.
2nd half Harry Mabbutt was deployed as a 3rd striker and the Aztecs came to life, we started to press and challenge and most satisfying was the passing in the 2nd half. Louis Mundy playing further right in midfield started to dictate events, Luke O'Sullivan had a cracking shot saved by the keeper and Matty Ayres shored up the centre of midfield. 2 well taken goals from Harry Mabbutt brought the Aztecs back into the game. In defence Archie White, Isaac Winn and MOM Sean Frost looked more comfortable as the game went on until a late goal from the Colts saw them finish winners at 3-2. |

13 February 2010 12:00 - League - Hartley Witney Hawks 0 v CPR Aztecs 1 |
| After the disappointment of losing to the CSA 07 Jags last week, the Aztecs were back in the winning groove again this week. Both teams looked bright early on but it was the Aztecs who were moving the ball around more fluently especially down the right flank. The work load paid off half way through the first half when a good cross in from the right was neatly put away by leading goal scorer Luke O'Sullivan. The game continued in the same vein until the 2nd half when the Aztecs moved up another gear and the game was virtually played inside the Hawks half. Louis Mundy and Sammy Ringrose were creating chance after chance in midfield with some bright runs down the wing from Harry Mabbutt. There were shots over the bar, save's by their keeper (who was excellent), in the end a 0 - 5 result would not have been unkind to the Hawks.
The opportunities in the game which, did fall to the Hawks were dealt with tidily by the defensive unit of Archie White, Sean Frost MOM and Matthew 'Santa' Wignall who seem to be getting better and better each week playing together.
1-0 to the Aztecs |

06 February 2010 11:15 - League - CSA 07 Jaguars 2 v CPR Aztecs 0 |
| Almost a game of 2 halves as the strong wind had a major part to play in the game. The Aztecs came up against a well organised and energetic Jaguars team who started the stronger with the wind on their backs, the Aztecs rarely in the Jaguars half in the first 10-15 mins started to claw their way back into the game when a soft goal was conceded through a poor clearance. 1-0 down and the wind with them in the 2nd half saw a different game the ball played mainly in the Jaguars half of the pitch. The Aztecs usual passing game had deserted them today but they kept battling away, when a long ball clearance from the keeper bounced over the heads of everyone and the Jaguars ran on to score. 1-0 or 1-1 may have been a much fairer score as midfielder Miles Tennyson, defenders Matthew Wignall and MOM Archie White played the game of their season. |

23 January 2010 10:00 - League - CPR Aztecs 7 v Milford Pumas Tornados 3 |
| Curley Park opened up the brighter of the 2 teams and quickly took control of the midfield and as a result scored 2 early goals following good movement from Tom Wellard and Sammy Ringrose. JUst before and after half the Milford team hit 2 goals levelling the game following moves from their speedy winger. However, just as the 1st half the midfield clawed CPR back into the game and with some clever play down both flanks soon found themselves 4 - 2 up. MOM keeper Frasier Crounch then saved a penalty which, spurred on CPR to hit 3 more goals in quick sucession before Milford got a consolation near the end of the match. |

In the first 15 mins there was little to split these teams, FYE came prepared and well organised, but as the game went on the CPR Aztecs midfield started to take control with MOM Charlie Godwin flying up and down the wing. Curley Park's Luke O'Sullivan scored close to half time from move from the right side of the pitch. The 2nd half was a more dominate affair for CPR, Harry Mabbutt went back to right wing with Charlie Godwin back on the left, and from a burst through the midfield by Louis Mundy and a shot by Ryan Brown, the result was a fumble by the keeper and in true predator style Ryan Brown pounced in and put the CPR 2-0 up.
Cracks started to open up all over the FYE defence now and soon it was 3-0 following an easy tap in for Charlie Godwin from a cross in from Harry on the right wing. Soon it was 4-0 and could have more at full time, Harry Mabbutt ran down the right wing onto a beautifully weighted ball from Tom Wellard sprinted 20 yards and let a rocket fly in to the back of the net. Curley Park wrapped up a comfortable 4-0 win. |

05 December 2009 10:00 - League - CPR Aztecs 4 v Liphook Utd 1 |

CPR Aztecs find their form with 4-1 home win!
After the disappointing result of last week, Aztecs were back to their best again this week, against a hardened Liphook side, who were 2nd in the league table. It was important that the CPR Aztec boys won this match to stay in the title race and also regain some pride, and they did that in style. Although, when the game kicked off, the first 5 minutes were a bit nervous and full of errors with the boys unable to keep possession of the ball. This resulted in Liphook putting a through ball to their very fast front man who slotted past our keeper to take a quick 0-1 lead. Unlike last week however, the boys rallied strong and raised their game to a fantastic level. Aztecs pushed forward and battled so determined with some lovely football skills being shown by all the team. The work load paid off half way through the first half when captain Matty Ayres pushed a ball into the box, and with a bit of a scramble, the ball fell to the feet of Lewis who without hesitation slotted the ball past their keeper to make it 1-1. The boys were now on fire and there was some good work being done in the midfield. Harry Mabbutt battled for the ball and slotted it down the left side for Luke to run into the box beating 2 defenders along the way. His shot was brilliantly saved by the Liphook keeper, only for the ball to bounce towards Tom Wellard on the edge of the 18 yard box who slammed the ball to the back of the net, 2-1. From that moment onwards, it was all CPR Aztecs. Superb play and whilst the conditions were tough on a muddy pitch, they gave it their all and won all the 50/50 tackles, cleared their defence whenever Liphook threatened and then showed pace on the break whenever the opportunity arose. In the second half, the team carried on as they did in the 1st half, winning everything in midfield and any Liphook attack was confidently cleared by our back line. Miles had a superb game against the Liphook right wing, and never let them past once. Another goalmouth scramble resulted in Tom Wellard slotting the ball home for his 2nd of the game and Aztecs went 3-1 up. To round off a superb performance, CPR Aztecs got a free kick just outside their box when the Liphook keeper handled outside the area. Matt checked to find out if it was direct or not, and once he knew, BANG, in it went for a superb free kick no keeper was going to save. 4-1 to Aztecs.
The final whistle blew and a great victory was sealed. Bear in mind that this Liphook team had beaten us in the first game of the season, 3-0 and we also had a poor performance last week. To come back in style was very pleasing for all concerned and puts the Aztecs firmly back in the title race again. All the boys deserved Man of the Match but we decided that Miles had a great game and really came through a tough test.
All this with 11 boys and no subs on the day, an excellent performance from the boys.

21 November 2009 10:30 - League - Cove Panthers 1 v CPR Aztecs 1 |
| AZTECS EARN A HARD FOUGHT POINT
Following our home victory against Cove a few months ago, we knew the return leg at their home ground was going to be a tough match and so it proved to be! With the pitch muddy and conditions very cold, it was the Cove boys who showed the best footballing ability in the first half. After an Aztec attack within the first 2 minutes of the game, it was then all Cove in the first half. It looked as if our Aztec boys were still asleep as Cove beat us to every ball in midfield and gave our boys a bit of a lesson in passing the ball to feet and moving into space. They played some terrific football down both wings and it was only down to some determined defending from Archie and some quick clearances and ball pick ups from Frasier that we got to half time having not conceded. The 2nd half started in very much the same way, with our boys 2nd to the ball almost every time, slow to respond and not showing anything like we are capable of. The price was paid when a break down their left wing, saw some great inter-passing skills, before the ball was whipped into our box, and a Cove attacker was on hand to slot the ball away for a 1 nil lead.
This seemed to wake our boys up completely and was just the shock that was needed! Suddenly, from the whistle, we started to play fantastic football. Tom Wellard, Miles Tennyson and Matty Ayres were superb in getting to the ball and pushing it forward for our attackers to chase. Lewis never stopped running in the 2nd half and suddenly, it was all change with Aztecs first to the ball and controlling the midfield. Our fabulous back line of Archie, Sean and Mathew cleared most of their attacks. Aztecs were now playing some great pass and move football, and using the wings to such good effect. Matty Ayres terrorised their defence with speedy runs and Luke was as persistant and determined as ever. Harry was using the right wing to great effect with Tom and Charlie and we began to put Cove under lots of pressure. This eventually paid off when from a Matty Ayres corner, as Cove went to head it clear, the ball looped over their goalkeepers head and into the net. 1-1 !!
We really thought the boys were going to go on to win the match now and gave it their all in the final minutes of the 2nd half. But fair play to Cove who defended well and also continued to pose a threat and I think it was a fair result for all when the referee finally blew the whistle for full time and the match was drawn.
Well done to all the boys for the 2nd half performance. If we had played like that in the first half, we would have won the match I am sure. Man of the Match deservedly went to Archie who is so consistant and clears and defends when we need him to most. Well done Archie.

07 November 2009 11:00 - League - Hook Utd Blues 0 v CPR Aztecs 1 |
| Curley Park came out the stronger and more determined in the 2nd half, with some nicely work moves down the right flank involving Charlie Godwin. The quality of the passing picked up and with 5 mins to go striker Luke O'Sullivan scored a beauty in the top corner which pretty much decided the outcome of this match.
A game of few opportunities for both sides early on, with the Aztecs midfield not functioning as well as we have come to expect, keeper and MOM Frasier Crouch was forced into making two unbelievable saves. Soon after the pace did start to pick up towards the end of the 1st half (0-0). |

31 October 2009 10:00 - League - Headley Leopards 1 v CPR Aztecs 3 |
| The Aztecs dominated the 1st half and were camped in the Headley half for most of this period, but only found themselves 1-0 up at half time. In the 2nd half the slick passing in the midfield continued with Matty Ayres having another strong game linking well with MOM and right winger Harry Mabbutt. Aztecs keeper Frasier Crouch was unlucky to concede soon after half time and pulled out a couple of fine saves. However the Aztecs carried through the momentum gained in the 1st half and finished up worthy winners at 3-1 with striker Luke O'Sullivan bagging a hat-trick. |

24 October 2009 12:00 - League - CPR Aztecs 4 v Cove Panthers 2 |
|
Early on there was little to split these teams, but as the game went on the CPR Aztecs started to take control with MOM Sammy Ringrose in good form. Curley Park scoring first after a well worked move through the centre of midfield, then the 2nd coming from a headed corner from the shortish CPR player Harry Mabbutt. CPR then scored a third just before half time. The 2nd half saw a more determined Cove side come all fired up, and soon it was 3-2 but as in previous games Curley Park came back into the game and took control and wrapped up a comfortable 4-2 win. |

17 October 2009 10:45 - League - CPR Aztecs 1 v CSA 07 Jaguars 4 |
| Promising opening to the game from the Aztecs, moving the ball well though they were signs of strength from CSA down both wings. The 1st goal went to CSA as a result of some good wing play. MOM Louis Mundy quickly release striker Christian Holland to pull one back to 1-1 at half time. 2nd half the Aztecs struggled to get the ball out of their half particularly from goal kicks. As a result both wingers for CSA became much stronger as the game went on and they went on to win 4-1. |
| |
10 October 2009 11:15 - League - CPR Aztecs 2 v Hook Utd Blues 1 |
| Hook had the better of the opening 10 minutes or so, but once the Aztecs settled down and found their stride they started to dominate all aspects all of the game. With the control gained in midfield they started to create quite a few opportunities and centre forward Ryan Brown converted the 2 chances that came his way. The 2nd half was a more even affair and Hook started to work some nice moves down the left which ultimately resulted in a goal from their left winger. Another good CPR performance. |
| |
03 October 2009 10:30 - 2nd Rd Cup - Mytchett Kestrels 4 v CPR Aztecs 0 |
| The Aztecs came up against a well organised and energetic Mytchett Kestrels side who also happened to be 2 divisions higher. The winning margin may have been harsh, with a very flukey 2nd goal delivering a killer blow just before half time, but the result was right as the Kestrels controlled the game for large sections of the match. MOM and centre back Matthew Wignall did his best to keep them at bay along with Archie White in defence. Whilst Matty Ayres and Harry Mabbutt battled away in the midfield. We played against a very good Mytchett side. |

26 September 2009 10:00 - League - CPR Aztecs 5 v Headley Leopards 3 |
| A game of opportunity for both sides early on, with Curley Park scoring first after a well worked move down the left wing. Headley came to make a game of and they equalise shortly after. Curley Park were soon 3-1 up after some dominant midfield play from Matthew Ayres. Again Headley came back and after some basic defending errors from CPR found themselves back in the game at 3-3. Substitute's Louis Mundy and Harry Mabbutt teamed up with MOM Luke O'Sullivan to take control of the game and rounded off a good 2nd half performance at 5-3. |

19 September 2009 12:00 - 1st Rd Cup - Crookham Rovers Invaders 0 v CPR Aztecs 6 |
| Another excellent game for the Aztecs who found themselves 4-0 up within the first 15 minutes of the match. Matt Ayres (MOM) and Louis Mundy both controlling the midfield and creating lots of space for the wide men Charlie Godwin and Harry Mabbutt.
The defensive pairing of Sean Frost & Matthew Wignall were again very good with full backs Fraser Cole and Miles Tennyson getting up into attack at every opportunity. An impressive performance from the Aztecs. |

12 September 2009 10:00 - League - CPR Aztecs 5 v Manor Colts Black 0 |
|
A good solid performance was required after last weeks defeat, and the Aztecs did not disappoint. Dominant from the start, with well work moves down both flanks really testing the Manor Colts defence. Louis Mundy, Harry Mabbutt who along with MOM Tom Wellard took control of the midfield and were backed up superbly by both centre backs Sean Frost & Matthew Wignall. 2-0 at half time 5-0 at full time rounded off an excellent performance.

05 September 2009 10:30 - League - Liphook Utd 3 v CPR Aztecs 0 |
| The first game of the season for the Aztecs and to be fair it showed. There were some good promising signs for the future with MOM Harry Mabbutt making some nice plays down the right flank. Having gone 2 -0 at half time the Aztecs could have scored several times and were unlucky to concede a third. We came up against a good Liphook side. |
