| With only the 2nd match in 2010, Vikings struggled to find the rhythm that gave them so many elusive victories. This was a resilience team performance with no substitutes in some very difficult condition and against all odds. Without an official referee, the AFC replacement were appearing to call most of the decisions to AFC's advantages which included 2 clear penalty calls in the first half against JB then JM, various offside decisions notably a clear counter when both CH & RT were call offside when both of them were still in our own half. The first half ended miserably with the Vikings trialling 1-0 down after some poor defending. With a tactical change with players positions, Vikings started brightly in the 2nd halves with ample of chances including around 11 consecutive corners but failed to capitalised. Vikings finally showed their improved fitness and stroked back in the last 15 minutes with 3 carbon copy goals from RT & CW. Well done to GP for filling in defence and holding the opposition back effectively after the rotation. The last 3 minutes was an incident |
| we prefer to forget with the referee first ignoring the flag from our linesman when 4 of the AFC players were at least 4 yards offside despite the referee being in an incorrect position & a very long distance away. Then saw the send off of our lineman Steve M by the referee for no apparent reasons which unsettled the Vikings leading to concede a late last minute goal. Well done to the Vikings for respecting some very poor decisions from the referee and just got on with the game. A lesson in real football and all part of the development. | 6 weeks rest and against Wye Valley's first team (previously in DIV 1), Vikings had to come out from hibernation quickly and what a start for 2010. Within the first attack, JM pot home from 4 yards with his legendary diagonal run from an equally legendary CW cross. Unknown to the Vikings coaches, one of his over enthusiastic defender was hiding an injury which exposed Vikings normal solid defence and give away the equaliser to end the first half 1-1. With the injury issue resolved early in the 2nd half, Vikings showed the host our fluent passing game stringing at least 20 passes around their box hitting the post twice before scoring our 2 elusive winners. What a beauty they were ! 2nd goal came from CH chasing an intercepted cross from CW then delivering a high lob cross in tight space over the keeper & defence which connected with JM jump to head home the lead (from another small player); 3rd was even more impressive ! - a good throw from DM on the left side to CH (best trick of the season) who flick the ball with outside of his boot to JB who then |
| squared it to CW inside the 18 yard box to blast home against cross bar in Geoff Hurst's style in the last minute of the game. Definitely best team goal from set play yet. Good kick start to 2010! Scorers: JM 1, 50min, CW 58min MOM JB |

| As the Vikings came close to the end of the first half of the season 2009/2010, this was a significant fixture to perform against one of the contenders for the title. Vikings shown their composure and settle in well with the most unexpected goal from CH after imposing continue pressure against the busy Blues keeper. The opener was a rebound lobbing header possibly from one of the smallest Vikings (shadow of Messi) and another for the cameras. Once the deadlock was broken, Vikings demonstrated again their fluent passing game with endless chances. The interplay between CH & RT was exceptional and RT was rewarded in the last minute of the first half with an outstanding lob against the Blues' keeper (a copy-cat goal from CH against Cove a weeks ago) What CH can do! RT can do! What a attacking duo they have became. Special mention for the half-well DM who showed resilience and reinforced a solid defence; CB put a smile to the coaches' face when he repeated the half turn that was practiced during training the day earlier; OP had his best game this season feeding our forwards regularly; GP continued with his returned form in central midfield and |
| clinched the winning goal from a long range deflection; JB (MOM), first captaincy and signalled a noticeable difference when came on with JM. Another good result especially with missing players, no oranges and a non-ideal formation. However this was not a week for experiment with player positions which almost backfired in the 2nd half. If it ain't broke, don't fix it! Scorers: CH 20min, RT 30min, GP 50min MOM JB |

| Match cancelled by the Greens who couldn't put a team together but it was still a busy day for the Vikings' first ever Team Xmas party. This was an evening of team building, parents engagement, Xmas gifts and a lots of competitive games. The invincible team DM on the table football was out of this planet, so was team GP on pools (notably with a home advantage); team CH and RT was always going to make an impact but how ironic it was team RT (dual finalists) who knock out team CH's key opposition Team CB and then cliched the trophy in the final. Special thanks to GP family for hosting this wonderful gathering; KCS for their new sponsorship and all parents & players for their support! 2009. 2010 will be an exciting photo finish in the league; more team building activities for the Vikings and watch this space for Vikings' first ever international tour in KAPOSVAR against teams from Germany, Serbia, Croatia, Romania, Ukraine, Russia and Hungary. | With our 2 strikers resting for the County Cup game, the Vikings had many chances but find it difficult to convert against a well organised Rushmoor defence. Vikings finally swing into action with the entrance of the strong RT & CH partnership and broke the deadlock with an SJ trademark strike late in the 1st half. Thereon it was business as normal with RT showing his pace and scored 2 very quick goals. The partnership on the right between CW and HW/OP were also strong. Lovely unselfish passing from CH and JB again setting up many chances. It has been a long time since SM had so little to do in goal but a well deserved long awaited 2nd clean sheet. Overall a good results on a very cold morning. More importantly 3 consecutive big wins sustaining consistency and going from strength to strength. | Sunday 8th November 2009, (Surrey County Cup) Home vs Elm Grove Colts |
| Connaught Pavilion, Whitmoor Road, Bagshot, Surrey GU19 5QE, Lost 1-7 |
| This was the best opposition Vikings have encountered and the best team won! With only 9 matches played together and not always with the full squad, this came just a little bit too early for the developing Vikings. However the Vikings can held their heads well high in containing the visitors in the 1st half (2-0). Coaching team is extremely encouraged with the never give-up attitude of the Vikings against the visitors from the Surrey West Youth Premier Divisions (loaded with district & academy players). This was demonstrated midway through the 2nd half with CH forcing home a consolation goal to deny the Colts a clean sheet (who has conceded only 1 goal before today from their many matches); the various heroic clearances from EA, DM & FG in the first half. The Colts' coach complemented how organised we were and that we are one of the better teams they have played against. We have much to learn from the Colts who did to us what we have done to so many teams with the beautiful execution of high quality crossing. With 2 players missing, our reserved LM & |
| SF fill in the gaps and provided much needed stability. Special mention for SM in goal in this very busy afternoon with many critical saves and FG for his solid performance in defence especially in the first half. An honourable exit to this season's County Cup but we will be back more prepared & ready. We can now concentrate on the league & the Ash Trophy for the rest of this season. Scorers: CH 46min MOM FG |

| After a week's rest due to bad weather, Vikings had to be at their best against a strong team in Div 3. Right from the offset, we were slightly unsure in midfield but solid in defence. CW (MOM) captained the Vikings for the first time did not disappoint and lead the team out in a truly Vikings fashion. Strong attack down the wings and another quick JM trademark finish to open up the score. For there on it was business as normal but GP was exceptional in central midfield and at long last return to form. With the opportunity to experiment different formation, strikers RT & CH continue to demonstrate their almost perfect partnership scoring 3 and making another 2 out of the 6 goals between them. With the news of the increase in pace from CH & RT the last few weeks, JB went back to his supplier and added extra turbo boost to his legs and almost pot in an incredible goal from a run from the half way line scaring the opposition's keeper in the process. We have to pay credit to the visitor's dis-allowed free kick which was almost perfect and of course keeper SM's request to take the penalty (which would have been dis-allowed even if it went in). All in all, another good team performance, another clean sheet, another big win! Scorers: JM 9, RT 11, 37min, CH 14min, DM 44min, CW 48min MOM CW |

| This was always going to be a difficult match against a Premiership side only after being together 3 times and without 2 key players. However despite the scoreline, Vikings were the stronger side until the 40th min when they conceded a soft goal from a goal kick against the wind that got intercepted and scored by a X-CPR player. Thereafter Vikings got a little panic and dis-organised and conceded 2 further soft goals. Overall good performance with 3 defensives errors, but we can held our heads high. MOM DM |
| Sunday 4th October 2009, (Surrey County Cup) Home vs Esher Youth |
| All Saints Church, Broadway Road, Lightwater, Surrey GU18 5SG, Won 6-1 |
| This was our first ever Surrey County Cup match against a very physical side from the Surrey Youth league (yellow card and bookings for the visitors). Another difficult match and almost a repeat of the NEHYL match the day before with almost total dominations in the first half but without scoring. Reverting back to the original formation was controversial especially without 4 key players. However the 3 reserve LO, SR and LM were outstanding especially LM in midfield which did not disappoint. It took 38min before we broke down the Mammoth of defence from Esher Youths with a good set play from a CB cross where GP converted with style soon coming on from the bench. Needless to said, RT's and Vikings first ever hatrick was well deserved and closed out in the last minute. CH's 20 yard thunder shot from holding midfield was another beauty similar to his lob goal from the first match. CB has finally found his position, pace and form to score a cracker again soon coming on from the bench. Overall fantastic win after the disappointment the day before and good fitness at last after some players having played 3 matches in 2 days. | All Saints Church, Broadway Road, Lightwater, Surrey GU18 5SG, Lost 3-4 |
| Narrow defeat but good lesson learnt. If we only had another 5 minutes. Another exciting encounter against a well prepared, strong and physical Wey Valley Knights. Vikings fought well and applied all that was taught at training and shut out all the long range shots from the Knights. Vikings never got into their rhythm, credit to the Knights for stopping the Vikings playing their normal fluent passing game. Excellent and brave defending from EA but the back 4 were in virtual mode most of the match; outstanding recovery run from CH in midfield and tackled their striker clean in the box to prevent a dangerous scoring situation; a number of good saves from SM including a possible own goal; excellent attacking play from CB on the left wing; lovely runs again from HW on the right wing but improving very quickly was JM, our hatrick hero, who scored 3 similar goals by applying the diagonal runs he learnt from training the day earlier. This was a match for the statistician: 1st home defeat, 1st own goal Overall perhaps not the right result but Vikings try their best and have re-applied learnings from the training field on match day. | Saturday 24th October 2009, (NEHYFL) Home vs Cove Youth |
| All Saints Church, Broadway Road, Lightwater, Surrey GU18 5SG, Won 7-3 |
| Sensational performance, 200% team efforts and a victory well deserved. Big win for the Vikings against one of the strongest teams in this division. The lessons learnt against the Knights prepared the Vikings well for this encounter. Vikings played some fluent but high tempo passing football. Defence was solid as rock, so was midfield and forwards. JM has again landed his trademark diagonal run finishes he learnt at training 2 weeks ago; CH scored the goal of the match with his well composed chip-lob over the keeper from 20 yards under server pressure from the opposing defence (CH's trickery is also becoming his trademark and reminds us signs of Davor Suker's cheeky chip against Peter Schmeichel in Euro 96); outstanding recovery from CB who had to stand-in for SM in goal, and with zero goal keeping training, displayed 2 fantastic saves (one of which was a tummy roll); SM as usual produced some exceptional saves in the 1st half even when ill; EA, OP, FG & DM are finally a happy 4-some; CW's attacking play was positive on the wings and back on the score sheet; RT was quiet but efficient in creating space for others; hatrick hero, JB, appeared |
| even quicker than ever after his major leg re-construction (anything bionic hidden under those 100+ stitches??); but last word goes to MOM, GP who has finally progressed to the position he was recruited for in this epic triumph - all this was down to hard work, dedications and positive attitudes with both training & matches. This was Vikings BEST performance by far, not only did everything from training were re-applied on match day but the team really was playing as a flawless unit. Vikings' never give up attitude was again demonstrated with coming back directly within a minute from conceding goals by CH & JM's efforts on both occasions. All remains now is to achieve consistency for the rest of the season. Re-gained pole position once again - Ecstatic coaching team & parents. | If last week versus Cove was sensational, then this week was even better and absolutely Fabulous!! Apart from the goal conceded in the 3rd minute from a very good individual effort by Camberley Town, the rest of the match was all about the Vikings. Compared to the previous encounter a few weeks ago where the Vikings just won narrowly, this was a re-born Vikings (thanks to the Knights) that was more hungry, more composed and more coherent as a team. Both teams have improved significantly but the Vikings are definitely improving quicker than most of their peers. The 3rd minute goal acted as a catalyst for the Vikings assault against the Royals, once again the Vikings come straight back within a minute to level from what has become JM's trademark finished; SM was sharp in goal when he needed to & displayed his wonderful concentration on a very quiet morning; RT & CH must have taken advice from JB and brought the same bionic parts and went flying at the Royals defence constantly with RT rewarded with another hatrick; most impressive was the interchange between CH, CB & JM displaying the most wonderful composed passing |
| football; great captain's performance from JM & well deserved MOM for CH for being strong linking team play creating spaces & scoring chances for others, accurate passing & tackling as well as scoring himself. CW, SJ & GP exploited the Royals very good offside trap and our back 4 again was strong and decisive, our 3 Musketeers (OP, FG & DM) have returned & d'Artagnan (EA) will never be alone again. True team performance and literally brought a new meaning to the Vikings' "All for One! & One for All !" bonding. This marks a remarkable end for our October campaign and the beginning of the Vikings long awaited journey to consistency. Scorers: JM 4, 9min, RT 7, 31, 40min, CH 33min, CB 42min, HW 59min MOM CH |
